Spinergy Rev-X

Rick sent in this photo of Jerome from the 2000 Quad Cities Criterium in Rock Island, Illinois. Jerome appears to be giving the Rev-X a fairly negative review.

Easton Carbon Fork

Alexander sent me these photos that he took of a friends bike after some sort of unspecified incident the occurred during a race. I'm not sure what you do to break your steerer tube, but the Spinergy Rev-X wheel is fine. Still, I'd triple check that Rev-X before riding it again.

Kestrel vs Dog

I just recieved this story and photo from Jim:
Here is pic of my Kestrel after a run in @ 28 mph with a 70# German Shepherd pup. I was running a Spinergy Rev-X in front that came out relatively unscathed (dog hair caught between spokes). When I came to, the dog's owner was holding a towel on my chin. Lots of blood! Since the crash, that Kestrel was riden another 15,000 miles.
Ouch. I wouldn't have thought a Rev-X was stronger than a carbon fork. Anyway, I'm glad Jim was ok.

Spinergy Rev-X

This one is a little hard to see, but what you are seeing is the remains of a Spinergy Rev-X wheel. Only one bladed carbon spoke and a small segment of the rim remains.

It's carbon spoke week

Continuing with the carbon spoke theme, here are a set of rev-x wheels that are about to blow up. Note the cracks forming by the rivets. Not good.

Spinergy Rev-X

The infamous Spinergy Rev-X. A number of catastrophic failures caused Spinergy to pull these wheels off of the market. This was in the 90s, before digital cameras were everywhere, so there aren't that many good photos of them. The Spinergy Accidents page only exists in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine now. Soon these wheels will be completely forgetten.
