Mountain Bikes want in on the fun
So far I've just been posting road and cyclocross bikes, but there are carbon mountain bikes too. The owner of this bike took and old school carbon cross country bike and put a huge triple crown fork on it and started doing huge jumps and drops. Crazy. But even crazier, after he broken the frame, he just patched it up and kept on riding. Crazy.

Watch out for that Tree
Wow, today's busted carbon is crazy. When Ben was out riding, an Oak Tree fell on him. Amazingly, he's ok except for his nose and some bruises. His bike didn't survive, but I don't think anybody would expect it to.

A Warning to Others
This Stevens was on display at a crit as a warning to others. Judging by the greenery in the front forks, somebody took this bike on an unplanned off road excursion.

Even more Cyclocross
Since it's cyclocross season, I'll stick with the cyclocross theme. This time it's a broken seat post, but a broken seat post dosn't always mean DNF -- I've seen people finish a race standing.

More Cyclocross
More cyclocross means more broken carbon. This time it's the bars. Thanks to Adam for sending me this photo.

This is a submission from Brian. The Orbea was hit by a deer and the Specialized hit a curb in a crit. I'm always looking for more photos, so if you have any, please send them to me.

Busted Carbon in the News
KSL reports that Andy Chapman was hit by a van while riding to work. Both he and his bike are in rough shape. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Carnage on the MUP
Here's one I found on craigslist. It's some idiot ranting:
Just wanted to say thanks to the JackAss that was riding on the wrong side of the Platte River trail yesterday! Yeah its me... im the one that plowed into you at least 22mph while u were riding up under a bridge and around a corner! Smart move.. just so you know when u took off and i was bleeding on the trail... dont worry im ok! Little sore but more hurt that you stupidness lead to my Trek carbon is wreaked!A crash on the MUP at 22 mph destroys a bike. Be careful out there, especially on the MUPs, they are full of idiots.
Not only did u sheer the fork right off the bike you also caused my head tube to become oval ed out cracking the carbon! and now my $3500 bike is a wall ornament! Thanks again asshole! Next time ill throw your bike in the river before asking if your dumbass is ok!

Road Kill
This photo is a classic from bikeforums.net. Maybe bladded spokes would have helped here, but I doubt it.

Race Report: Cameron Cross
Damage report: One seat post, one steerer tube.
Quote from Stephen Kilshaw: ...pre-ride the course. On my way up one of the steeper climbs I literally pulled the handle bars right off, cracking the carbon steer tube in half. No joke. Just pure torque from the arms managed to crack this thing climbing the hill.
